Following sell-out performances in May comes a welcome second opportunity to see this storytelling drama set in the south Wales valleys based upon moving, humorous and bittersweet tales of young motherhood.
I Sing of a Maiden is a conversation between the ancient and contemporary with folk songs from the fifteenth to eighteenth century interspersed with Rachel Trezise’s incisive and funny monologues set in the Rhondda Valley. A mesmerising atmosphere of film, words and music is created around Carys Eleri’s captivating performance as the teenage Abby.
Film by Rachel Calder. Live music performed by Charlotte Greig, Julian Hayman and Edward James. Stage design by Elena Scelzi. Directed by James Tyson.
