Fri 28 March — Thu 3 April Gwe 28 Mawrth — Iau 3 Ebrill
USA/Germany/2007/135 mins/15. Dir: Todd Haynes. With Cate Blanchett, Ben Whishaw, Christian Bale, Richard Gere.
Todd Haynes’ journey into the life and times of Bob Dylan is as unconventional as it is inspired. Six actors portray Dylan as a series of shifting personae, from the public to the private to the fantastical, weaving together a rich, multi-layered portrait of this ever-elusive icon, from early success in Greenwich Village to the later reclusive figure in retreat from the world. Conceptually audacious, the film is also playful and funny, and rooted in real depth of knowledge and understanding of Dylan’s biography and creative history.
"This is a challenging film, but a rewarding one." - The Observer
