The Gallery is now closed for a major overhaul which includes new walls, lighting, floors and a brand new entrance. Although we won’t be operating in our usual space, we won’t be resting on our laurels and September will see the start of a programme of off-site interventions by four artists who have been commissioned to develop Chapter off-site Social Spaces which will effectively create new sites for engagement, discussion, participation and enjoyment with and of visual art. These spaces will provide additional meeting points for some of the groups and individuals who will be displaced through the temporary closure of parts of Chapter. We will also be encouraging individuals, artists, groups, schools and organisations to book in events, time to socialise, film screenings, etc making the space truly flexible and adaptable to our users’ ever-changing needs.
Cardiff-based artist Cecile Johnson Soliz is the first of our commissioned artists and she is currently working on a space in Market Road that will be open to the public from September.
