Karl Price, Beth Greenhalgh, Tim Bromage and Sam Hasler: Common Ground

Fri 23 + Sat 24 May
7pm
Gwe 23 + Sad 24 Mai

Common Ground features four individual performances from four Cardiff-based artists sharing a single space. Each night will feature two artists' works.

Fri 23 May • Gwe 23 Mai: Beth Greenhalgh + Tim Bromage

Sat 24 May • Sad 24 Mai: Karl Price + Sam Hasler

As separate works they are to be seen in their own context (each artist employing their own processes and materials). But a step back from these activities reveals a broader, less tangible narrative concerning the space, its co-habitation and the resulting parallels or frictions within it. An artificial lawn will be laid out in the space as the architectural intervention on which the performances will take place.

‘The ground on which they work will remain installed throughout the project, and will no doubt show the wear and tear of activity for which it wasn’t really designed — this isn’t football-pitch Astroturf but rather its cheaper exhibition-hall relative. And although the actions and interventions (architectural, aesthetic, environmental or otherwise) which the artists make may be temporary, their interrelation in the space (both of the Annexe and of meaning in the project) will be lasting.’ — Paul Hurley

A publication featuring documentation on the performances will be published in June.
