Nels Andrews, from Albuquerque, New Mexico, is in the great tradition of Americana singer songwriters. His pedigree was rubber-stamped when he won the "New Folk" award at the 2002 Kerrville Folk Festival, an honour previously awarded to Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle and Lyle Lovett. His first album, Sunday Shoes, has attracted unanimous rave reviews and heavy airplay from Bob Harris. alt.cardiff is proud to present Nels as part of his first ever UK tour. He will be backed by his regular touring band the El Paso Eyepatch, featuring Jeffery Richards' (Vic Chesnutt, Hazeldine ) on guitar.
Support comes form Cardiff's Christopher Rees who will be playing songs from his second album, Alone on a Mountain, an utterly distinctive slice of Welsh country blues - think John Cale meets Townes Van Zandt.
