Set in 18th century Vietnam this is an exquisitely beautiful period drama based on a traditional folk tale. Ly An flees the stifling conservatism of her village to explore the outside world, only to return bearing a son by an unknown father. Ostracised by the villagers and shamed into exile, she abandons her baby. Seventeen years later her son travels through the countryside slowly piecing together the truth about his long-lost mother from the men whose lives she touched.
