André Stitt: Reclamation

André Stitt is one of Europe's foremost performance and interdisciplinary artists, and ‘Reclamation’, was his first major solo exhibition in Wales. The exhibition took the form of two newly commissioned installations that investigated memory and the interrogation of space.

Shizuka Yokomizo: Distance

Produced to coincide with her solo exhibition of the same name, this publication explores Yokomizo’s portrait series in which she wrote to strangers asking them to appear at their window so that she could photograph them.

Paul Becker: Paintings

Paul Becker’s paintings are influenced by our affinity with the animal world. Characters such as Bambi, Bagpuss and Mickey Mouse have entertained children for decades but here Becker draws upon cultures’ use of the animal in adulthood. Still present are recognisable symbols of innocence, yet Becker draws the viewer into a darker and more mysterious world.

'Masters of the Universe', a group exhibition curated by Gordon Dalton and shown at Chapter in 2003, was inspired by various ideas surrounding hero worship, hopes and dreams, and the inevitable failure in trying to live up to an idealistic way of life. The artists included Gordon Dalton, Chris Yeats, Paul Housley, Paul Stone and Sara MacKillop.

Cornelia Parker: Avoided Object

Cornelia Parker is concerned with the relation between ideas and the ambiguities contained therein. The gaps in our thinking are as interesting as the substance, for without gaps we might be incapable of making leaps.
