American Valhalla (15)
USA/2017/81mins/15. Dir: Josh Homme, Andreas Neumann
The extraordinary story of how two rock icons (Iggy Pop and Josh Homme) recorded the album Post Pop Depression, embarked on an epic tour, and blew the roof off the Royal Albert Hall.
While it revels in its access-all-areas footage, beautiful cinematography and blistering soundtrack, American Valhalla is as contemplative as it is visceral. Creating a new band, secretly recording a phenomenal record, and then touring the hell out of it was all part of Pop's plan to leave a personal legacy that both cherishes the memory of his work with The Stooges and David Bowie, and reminds us that he is a vital, contemporary force to be reckoned with.
Pale Blinds is thrilled to present American Valhalla at Chapter. The screening includes an introductory Q&A with drummer Matt Helders (Arctic Monkeys), exclusively recorded for Pale Blinds.
