Among the Living – Skate Project at Chapter Stiwdio
Among the Living is a national touring project that brings together the worlds of art and skateboarding. Ten contemporary artists - Stuart Bailey and Mark Beasley, David Burrows, Lucienne Cole, Gordon Dalton, Craig Fisher, Juneau Projects, Kate Parrott, Beagles and Ramsey, Ross Sinclair and Bedwyr Williams - have each created a new piece of work which will be reproduced as the graphic on a skateboard. These limited edition boards will be for sale in The Shop at £40 each.
Artist Ross Sinclair has been commissioned to create a site-specific installation for Chapter Stiwdio. This sculpture is based on a recurring theme in his work, the world of Pangea. Pangea is a super continent that existed 250 million years ago and Sinclair’s notion of Pangea Ultima sees the continents joined together again, creating one people and one single country without any borders.
This desire for freedom is reflected in the installation which includes skateable elements and features thirty electric guitars with the invitation to play and take away. Sinclair’s work encourages you to realise and fulfil your own creative potential; to be anything and anyone through art, music and skating.
