Cardiff Animation Nights: Horror Shorts

Curated by our very own resident horror weirdo Dani Abram. These scary shorts definitely aren't for kids...

In a deserted rich house, a couple of amphibians explore their surroundings and follow their primal instincts.

Incredible Oscar-nominated gorey French dark comedy.

"The most gorgeously realized independent 3D animation in years" – Short of the Week

An Edgar Allen Poe inspired tale about a man, Winston, falling into his own hell, by his own means.

One of Dani's favourite animated films of all time, created by Aram Sarkisian at CalArts.

"Winston will pierce you to the core with its dark tale of a man tormented by his demons" – The Awesomer

That which is neglected, is lost.

Premiering at Sundance and featuring the voice of Richard E. Grant, this unsettling short was created by Dan Gray and Tom

Brown, who cut their teeth at the University of Wales Newport.

"Gray and Brown create a visceral world soaked in gloom and menace... this short is scarier than the dentist" – Vice

Layla is terrified by her potential to do harm, until she is challenged to find that she can trust herself.

Suraya Raja's tense animated short about anxiety and compulsions.

"Raja’s film is smart and artful, an original and precision-engineered animated marvel" – Little White Lies
