Call for Tender – Wales In Venice Building Adaptation
Posted on: 10 Feb 2017
Chapter Arts Centre is delighted to be working with the artist James Richards on the Wales in Venice presentation during the Venice Biennale in 2017 and we are now looking for an experienced contractor to deliver the building adaptation of the exhibition space to the Exhibition Team’s specifications.
The venue, Santa Maria Ausiliatrice, is a former convent now used as a community centre. The spaces used by Wales in Venice comprise the former chapel as well as a complement of contemporary rooms. Situated midway between the main Biennale Giardini and Arsenale sites, the Santa Maria Ausiliatrice is on Fondamenta San Gioacchino, just off the wide Via Garibaldi.
The adaptation team must take into account the historic fabric of the building which cannot be affected or compromised in any way.
The work for adaptation will be undertaken between the period 27 March 2017 and 14 April after which time the Exhibition Team will require the building to be clear of all construction and adaptation works in order to begin installation of the exhibition. Removal and reinstatement works will take place at the close of the exhibition between the dates 29 November - 5 December,
Tender submission to undertake the work should include all materials, tools, hire / purchase of all equipment, travel and accommodation for the Adaptation Team (if required), staffing costs and taxes. It should also include all costs for removal and reinstatement works after the close of the exhibition in November / December.
