More People, More Places, More Films
Championing the innovative work of exhibitors, offering inspiration, support and inclusion to bring British and international film to audiences across Wales and the UK.
Film Hub Wales (FHW) is one of eight UK wide Film Audience Network (FAN) hubs, funded by the British Film Institute (BFI) from 2018-22 as part of the BFI 2022 strategy, with Chapter appointed as the Film Hub Lead Organisation (FHLO) in Wales. We support organisations that screen film, through research, training and audience development project support. Since Film Hub Wales set up in 2013, we’ve supported 195 cinema projects, reaching over 388,000 audience members. You’ll find other hubs in London, the Midlands, NI, the South West, Scotland, the North and the South East, who we work with on UK wide film initiatives.
We work with over 280 Welsh cinemas, arts centres, community venues, societies, festivals and wider film practitioners to develop inventive and inclusive ways for all people in Wales to access British independent and international cinema. This includes projects such as Roald Dahl on Film, the Queer Film Network UK and our Made In Wales strategy, which works to promote films with Welsh connections.
We are proud to lead the Inclusive Cinema Strategy on behalf of BFI FAN. Inclusion is at the heart of what we do, promoting the diversity of our audience and our eclectic exhibition network. We recognise the significance of film to isolated rural communities and our young audiences in Wales. We celebrate the power of film to generate positive partnerships, life-changing skills and the fundamental value of film as both heritage and art-form, promoting Wales as a cornerstone for film culture.
