Lightbox: Cornelia Baltes

Cornelia Baltes’ brightly coloured paintings combine simplicity with humour and playfulness. Real-world observations are stripped back to their simplest form; creating new abstract patterns and rhythms. Their bold graphic qualities often spilling out, over the surface and on to the walls and surrounding architecture in which they inhabit.

For Chapter, Baltes has created a new site specific work – two giant cartoon hands emerge from either side of the building, reaching to clasp each other in a handshake. This ‘body’ of work will also extend to our caffi bar in June when Cornelia Baltes installs a new exhibition for our Art in the Bar programme.
