The Moo Man (U)
UK/2013/98mins/ctba. Dir: Andy Heathcote, Heike Bachelier.
Dairy farming is indelibly linked to the British countryside and this timely documentary examines how high production for supermarkets has disrupted the links with farming and nature. Farmer Stephen Hook decides to buck the trend and chooses to keep his small, compassionate family farm going at a point when big super dairies are trying their best to get a stronghold in the UK. A heart-warming, gentle and surprisingly funny look at the incredible bonds between man and animal in this bucolic, bovine landscape that is at risk of disappearing forever. We will be joined by Andy Heathcote, the director and Steve the farmer for a post screening Q&A on 9th August.
