Artes Mundi 9 Exhibition & Prize 2021

We’re delighted to be a partner venue for the next iteration of the internationally acclaimed Artes Mundi exhibition and prize.

Artes Mundi 9 will take place from 13 February to 6 June 2021 in Cardiff, across three venues, National Museum Cardiff, Chapter and g39. The shortlist includes: Firelei Báez (Dominican Republic), Dineo Seshee Bopape (South Africa), Meiro Koizumi (Japan), Beatriz Santiago Muñoz (Puerto Rico), Prabhakar Pachpute (India) and Carrie Mae Weems (USA).

In Conversation: Luna Park 10 Years

It’s exactly 10 years since we commissioned Luna Park – a 16-metre tall sculpture of an Ultrasaurus by artist-duo Heather & Ivan Morison.

On Sunday 2 August 7pm, Heather and Ivan join Hannah Firth, our Director of Programme and Joanne Bushnell, Director of Aspex to discuss the original project, it’s new iteration in Virtual Reality (Luna Park 10 Years commissioned by Aspex), and plans for a permanent tribute to be installed in Portsmouth next year. Scene Change: #MissingLiveTheatre

Last week, designers of #SceneChange wrapped our arts centre in a message of hope with pink tape reading #MissingLiveTheatre. This tape has now been removed and will be re-used to envelop another theatre venue or organisation.

#SceneChange is a project created by stage designers to keep theatres visible and to highlight the impact of COVID-19 on the creative industries.
