NT Live: Fleabag for charity
There's another chance to catch NT Live's Fleabag which is available to watch from the comfort of your sofa. Funds raised will go to charities supporting those affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge's brilliant original stage play was such a hit with our audiences last year that it returned for several encore screenings.
Fleabag is a rip-roaring look at some sort of woman living her sort of life - a hilarious, award-winning, one-woman show that inspired the BBC's hit TV series.
Available to watch via sohotheatreondemand.com. Also available on Amazon Prime for a limited time only
New film: System Crasher
System Crasher was due to screen at Chapter this month and we're delighted that 606 Distribution has made the latest release available to stream from home.
System Crasher is a visceral exploration of childhood through the eyes of wild and troubled 9 year old, Benni.
You can also donate to Chapter whilst you watch! Simply select 'Chapter Cardiff' when you head to the checkout and 10% of the profits will go towards our Save Chapter fund.
Watch-along party with ReFramed Film
On Sunday 19 April at 4pm, join our friends @ReframedFilm on Twitter for a watch-along party of Eva.
Writer Tyvian Jones seems to have it all - an international best seller, an apartment in Rome and a gorgeous fiance, but still isn’t quite satisfied. In walks the alluring Eva, a woman who loves to gamble.
A showcase for legendary Welsh filmmaker Stanley Baker and a ravishing performance from Jeanne Moreau that Sight and Sound called “a blazing piece of star acting every inch of the way, remote, mysterious fabulously glamorous, five times larger than life.”
Available on MUBI, click the 'Watch' link below.
MET Opera: nightly performance streams, for free!
Missing your monthly MET Opera screening? Well, we've got good news for you! Each night, at 11.30pm the Met Opera will make a filmed opera available for streaming for 24hrs.
This weekend's schedule:
Fri 17 Apr: Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Sat 18 Apr: Cilea’s Adriana Lecouvreur, Sun 19 Apr: Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier
Freya Dooley: access art online
This time last year we were proud to present Cardiff artist Freya Dooley's solo exhibition 'The song settles inside of the body it borrows' which featured her newly commissioned, multi-channel film 'The Host'. You can now watch this, and other works, online via the artist's website freyadooley.com
As part of the exhibition we also produced a new publication that featured an insightful and poetic text by writer Cherry Smyth. The publication sold out whilst the exhibition was in our gallery but we're happy to say you can read it online here.
Theatre for families: Llygoden yr Eira
Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru and Chapter resident organisation Theatr Iolo are offering you the chance to watch Llygoden yr Eira which toured during 2019. Join them on an adventure in a magical forest. Filled with play, puppetry and music, this is an enchanting winter’s tale for the very young.
Chapter Quiz: join us on Friday evenings
Every Friday evening, from 8pm, we'll be hosting our very own Chapter Quiz on Instagram stories @chaptertweets. Run by Quiz Master Matt (winner of Weakest Link & Pointless!), we'll be looking at our programme over the last year and asking some interesting (and obscure) questions. You can also view our last two quizzes on Instagram. Just head over to our saved stories 'Chapter Quiz'.
Film Hub Wales: films, festival programmes & guides
Did you know that Chapter is proud to be the Film Hub Lead Organisation for Film Hub Wales? As one of the British Film Institute's 8 film audience network Hubs (BFI FAN) across the UK, the Hub works to bring more British and international film, to more people, in more places. During the crisis, the Hub team continue to work with a network of over 300 cinemas and film festivals in Wales, offering support for when the time comes to re-open.
To keep you entertained until then, BFI FAN Access Officer Toki Allison and Freelance Exhibition & Distribution Marketer Jo Taylor have compiled an eclectic list of online indie film recommendations, new releases, festival programmes, archives and digital guides.
