Documentary Filmmaker Seeks Contributors: What do you remember about seeing THIS sculpture in Cardiff?

Do you remember Garth Evans’ ‘Untitled’ sculpture at The Hayes Cardiff in 1972? Are you in these photos?

In 1972, Garth Evans created a large-scale sculpture that was placed in The Hayes, Cardiff city centre, for six months as part of a nationwide sculpture project. Following a successful crowdfunding campaign supported by Art Happens with Art Fund, the sculpture has been restored and is now back in its original location.

In collaboration with Chapter Arts Centre, 3A Productions is making a short documentary film about the sculpture and this moment in Cardiff’s history.

In 1972, many Cardiff residents must have walked past it, sat on it, discussed it – some even played on it! Chapter would love to hear from anyone who remembers anything about the sculpture at that time.

If you do remember the sculpture, or know anyone who does, you could be of great help to this project which will collect and celebrate Cardiff social and cultural history.

From 9 – 18 January 2020, a team working on the film will be in Cardiff and they would love to speak to those who can offer their stories.

If you can help, please contact Leila Philip by email (leilaphilip@gmail.com) or message the Chapter Gallery Facebook page here.

Garth Evans' ‘Untitled’ sculpture is on display at The Hayes until March 2020. More information
