Hear We Are: Open call for Deaf creative mentors Posted on 10 Jan 2022

Are you passionate about equality of access to the arts? Do you identify as Deaf or Hard of Hearing? Are you Welsh or based in Wales? Read more to find out how you can work with us…

Hear We Are is a Deaf-led project from Jonny Cotsen. It will explore the intersectional perspectives of Deaf and Hard of Hearing people, particularly those working in, or excluded from, the creative sector.

In partnership with Chapter Arts Centre, Hear We Are has received funding to establish a Wales-wide network of safe spaces for Deaf and Hard of Hearing creatives to meet, share experiences and explore ideas.

We're now looking to employ two creative mentors to take on exciting support roles within this project. Working alongside Jonny, the mentors will support interested artists and creatives, and seek out those who have been previously excluded within their communities. We want to celebrate and develop talent and encourage a more accessible arts sector. The creative mentors will offer support to encourage professional development, create a safe space to test out ideas, and to collate some of the urgent issues that they would like to see shared in the next phases of this project.

We’re keen to hear from people interested in making a social change and we welcome applicants in any discipline.

The selected creative mentors will receive mentoring from Jonny Cotsen, gain experience, develop new skills and receive valuable insight into the creative industries.
