Theatre Fixes To Ease Lockdown Blues Posted on 31 Mar 2020

Chapter may have closed its doors temporarily but if you’re looking for some theatre to keep you nourished, there's a host of theatre companies and artists providing their work for free online.

We're pulling together as comprehensive a list as possible and adding to it as more content becomes available.

Theatre Uncut - Bubble

Rehearsed on Skype and filmed via Facebook, Theatre Uncut's newest show is an explosive, experimental and topical new play about identity politics, modern community - and where we draw the line to protect what we most value.

Gecko - Time of Your Life

Gecko is a physical theatre company who have put some of their previous work on YouTube for free, including The Time of Your Life, a collaboration with the BBC.

Synergy - Girls Like That

Evan Placey's hit 2014 play follows a group of schoolgirls reacting as one of their peers has naked photos of themselves leaked online.

YesYesNoNo - Five Encounters On A Site Called Craigslist

YesYesNoNo has put one of its earlier works, Five Encounters on a Site Called Craigslist, online for free. The show was one of the smash hits at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2017.

Bunker Theatre - Where Do We Go Next

Curated by Caitriona Shoobridge and featuring six new short films from underrepresented writers interrogating the importance of diverse, political theatre in an increasingly hostile environment.

And finally, from Chapter's archive, this from 2014..

Chapter - Lleisiau / Voices

This performance project and live internet broadcast aims to discover and present a collection of lesser celebrated Welsh voices. A call went out across the nation asking for people to share their talents. A search for the diverse and overlooked ways in which people use their voices in their everyday lives. The result is a survey of what a few people in a brief period of time managed to gather together to show some of the uses of voice in contemporary Wales.

We have been overwhelmed by the love and support we’ve received since announcing Chapter's temporary closure due to the coronavirus. This is a difficult time and we appreciate everyone who has asked how they can help. If you would like to make a one-off donation, you can do so HERE. And please do add Gift Aid if you can – this means we can claim 25% more without any additional cost to you.
