We re-open our doors to the public this Autumn, and our new programme will include ‘From This World, To That Which Is To Come’, an exhibition that explores issues around mental health and wellbeing, by artist Mel Brimfield.
A range of works will be on show including STAND, a large installation that has been created by more than 100 mental health service users to highlight the importance of ‘making’ for those affected by mental illness.
The exhibition is visually and conceptually rich, and touches on issues that will resonate with so many, particularly during these extraordinary times. We would therefore like to invite an artist-practitioner – from any artform including visual, performance, music, writing, film, dance – to develop a creative response to the work. We hope that this commission will offer additional points of entry to, and interpretations of, the exhibition and enable deeper audience engagement with the content.
The outcome(s) will be shared online via our Social Media, Website, Digital Player or other means to be explored in dialogue with the practitioner. We hope to engage those harder to reach audiences who may be reluctant to return to the venue, and to centre and amplify the creative voices of those affected by mental illness.
You can find out more about the exhibition here.
