Hannah Firth - Director of Programme / Deputy Director
Hannah leads on the artistic programme at Chapter, steering the overall artistic direction and managing the programme teams in Visual Art, Cinema, Theatre and Learning. She is also Deputy Director where she works across all aspects of Chapter’s organisational and strategic development.
In 2017 Hannah was Curator / Project Director for Wales in Venice, presenting the critically acclaimed exhibition, James Richards: Music for the Gift, at the 57th Biennale di Venezia, an exhibition that is now touring the UK.
In 2018 Hannah was a judge for the first Possehl International Art Award in Lubeck, Germany; a judge and selector for the WOON Painting and Sculpture Prize 2018 and a nominator for the new Kleinwort Hambrose Emerging Artist Prize (2019). Hannah was on the British Council's 2015 Venice Biennale Selection Committee.
She is also on the steering committee for Cardiff Contemporary, the biennial festival of visual arts in Cardiff; is on the Board of Directors for Heart of Glass, an agency for collaborative and social arts practice based in St Helens, Merseyside; and a programme partner for Diffusion: Cardiff’s International Festival of Photography.
In 2007, Hannah was Curator for Wales at the Venice Biennale of Art where she presented And So It Goes, an exhibition of works by Richard Deacon, Heather & Ivan Morison and Merlin James.
Prior to working at Chapter, Hannah was Curator / Acting Director at Stills Gallery in Edinburgh and Managing Editor for A-N Magazine.
