Film Study Days
Chapter offer a variety of film-based workshops for schools both in venue or as outreach activity within your school.
Our film study days are aimed at all age ranges from Years 1 to Year 11 and beyond.
A typical study day would include the screening of a film in our Cinema, or in your school (We provide everything you need to set up a cinema in your hall).
The session format includes a film screening, break for lunch and then a series of individual and group exercises, discussions and activity. Reading and writing exercises are included and all worksheets are provided.
These workshop activities assist teachers to obtain classroom objectives and each workshops links to specific subjects and topics within the curriculum including citizenship, maths, English, history, geography and literacy.
Chapter can also provide a bespoke film study day, which can use a specifically requested film or tie into a requested area of the curriculum at a particular key stage.
Some of the films we’ve run study days on include: Danny the Champion of the World, Matilda, The Witches, A Bugs Life, The Lorax, The Incredibles, Shrek, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The King of Masks, Fly Away Home, Not One Less, Howl’s Moving Castle, Charlottes Web, Goodbye Lenin, Run Lola Run, Holes, The Merchant of Venice, plus many more.

Full Day Modern Foreign Language/Culture Experience
Developed over the past two years alongside St Teilos High School in Cardiff to support the delivery of the language element of the Welsh Baccalaureate, Chapter offers a variety of options to support the teaching of modern foreign languages.
Schools wishing to explore the culture of a modern foreign language can book for one of our culture days or choose elements that would suit them best.
A typical full day would include the screening of a film followed by a short lecture contextualising the film. Lunch is served by our café staff and consists of a taster buffet of food from the language/culture in question (Spanish, German, French, Italian etc…). The afternoon consists of a language workshop and vocabulary workshop followed by another cultural activity.
These language/culture days are offered for individual classes or whole year groups and are suitable for GCSE and AS/A Level students of MFL.
