Our volunteers are a fantastic bunch of people who come from all walks of life but share one thing in common – they’re passionate about Chapter and what we do. They also love new experiences and welcoming people to the building. Our volunteers help us with all sorts of events and activities and make a vital contribution to the day-to-day operation of such a busy arts centre. In return, we offer lots of great opportunities – to see theatre performances and film screenings free of charge, to receive training and, most importantly, to become part of the Chapter community.
As a volunteer usher, your role will include:

What our volunteers have to say...
"The best thing about volunteering here is the super-friendliness of the staff, they always look like we matter...and I love the cake." Nonn, Volunteer
"I came here in June 2012, and I've ushered over 1,000 films. Do you know, in my home I've got four carrier bags of ticket stubs and I'm starting my fifth. I don't know what I'm saving them for, it's just something to keep!" Colin, Volunteer
"You meet a lot of people, it's nice, I practice my English. You meet a lot of people in the cinema but I don't remember all of their names!" Maria, Volunteer
"A Star Is Born is probably my favourite film of 2018. Seeing Lady Gaga in a different role was really interesting, as before I wasn't a particular fan of her" Johnathan, Volunteer
"Chapter is like a second home for me. When I was getting ready to retire I wrote to Chapter and asked, do you have any opportunities for ushers and they didn't... but then when I retired they started the volunteer scheme so I signed right up" Menna, Volunteer
"I started six years ago, when I was coming up to retirement. What I love about it is the range of films, and the range of people who come to Chapter. I used to teach history in Coleg Gwent and I see some of my students here" Frank, Volunteer
