Seren’s monthly First Thursday once again returns to Chapter Arts Centre. On Thursday 1st December they’re joined by guest readers Christopher Meredith and Mari Ellis Dunning.
When: 7:30pm, Thursday 1st December
Media Point, 1st Floor, Chapter
Seren First Thursday has been taking place at Chapter for almost 15 years. Each month, two guests read work from their newly published books after which the floor is opened to attendees for our popular open mic. This month they are joined by two award-winning Welsh authors.
Christopher Meredith is the author of five novels and five collections of poetry. Prizes include an Eric Gregory Award, the Arts Council of Wales Young Writer Prize and the Fiction Prize for his first novel, Shifts. His poetry collection ‘Still’ and short novel ‘Please’ were published simultaneously in 2020.
Mari Ellis Dunning is a poet, researcher and workshop facilitator from West Wales. Her debut poetry collection, Salacia, was shortlisted for Wales Book of the Year 2019. Her second collection Pearl and Bone is available now from Parthian. She is currently a PhD candidate at Aberystwyth University.
Readers can sign up for the open mic on the night. Readers are asked to stick to one A4 page of poetry or prose so that there is time to get though everyone.
Tickets are £3 on the door. £2 of your ticket price is redeemable against any Seren book.
This event will also be streamed via Facebook live for those unable to make it in person. Visit www.serenbooks.com to find out more.
Books by both authors will be available on the night but please note they can only accept cash for copies of books by Mari Ellis Dunning.
This event is supported by the Literature Wales Inspiring Communities Fund.
