In a logging town in the Pacific Northwest, the discovery of the corpse of homecoming queen, meals on wheels volunteer and cheerleader Laura Palmer whose smiling portrait sits in the medal cabinet in pride of place, rocks the community. David Lynch and Hill Street Blues writer Mark Frost bring together a fantastic ensemble cast of actors, ranging from Hollywood legends such as Russ Tamblyn and Piper Laurie to Seattle theatre regulars and long-time Lynch collaborators such as Jack Nance and Catherine Coulson. A landmark creation in the history of television, TV executives at the time were baffled by the dreamy, absurdist take on episodic drama and began to lose faith during the second season, leading to Lynch and Frost to finish the series earlier than planned. Lynch followed the series up with a hard-edged feature film prequel, and finally 25 years later, the long-awaited series Twin Peaks: The Return which picked up the plot from the explosive season 2 finale to show us the consequences of evil left unchecked for a generation.
