In a stand-off Mr C is shot and Woodsmen tear at his body, revealing an orb. Nine Inch Nails play The Roadhouse. In a flashback to 1945 New Mexico, the first atomic bomb is detonated and The Experiment begins. Later, a woodsman enters a radio station and repeatedly broadcasts a mysterious message, rendering listeners unconscious. A creature enters an unconscious girl's room and climbs down her throat.

A landmark creation in the history of television, TV executives at the time were baffled by the dreamy, absurdist take on episodic drama and began to lose faith during the second season, leading to Lynch and Frost to finish the series earlier than planned. Lynch followed the series up with a hard-edged feature film prequel, and finally 25 years later, the long-awaited series Twin Peaks: The Return which picked up the plot from the explosive season 2 finale to show us the consequences of evil left unchecked for a generation.
