Apples (12A)

Mon 1 January 0001 - Thu 3 June 2021

Greece | 2020 | 91’ | 12a | Christos Nikou | Aris Servetalis, Sofia Georgovassili

Amidst a worldwide pandemic that causes sudden amnesia, middle-aged Aris finds himself enrolled in a recovery programme designed to help unclaimed patients build new identities.

Created before Covid-19, this surreal and tender film is an illuminating study of humanity, exploring the question of how we build up a picture of who we are once untethered from the objects and people who put us in context. Part of the ‘Weird Wave’ of Greek cinema of Yorgos Lathimos and Athina Rachel Tsangari, this Greek entry for Best Foreign Film at the Oscars is an illuminating look at how we re-enter the world after a time of unreality.
