Join us to watch our nominated Feature/Television Films. This event is part of the line-up for the BAFTA Cymru Awards Sessions - a series of events and screenings celebrating the nominees and nominated films/programmes from the 2023 BAFTA Cymru Awards.

 

DONNA

Synopsis

Directed by filmmaker Jay Bedwani, Donna is an intimate and candid portrait of inspiring trans activist, artist and performer Donna Personna. It follows her journey to live authentically as herself and to reconnect with her family.

 

FIVE DATES

Monday 25 September, 6:30pm – 8:30pm, Cinema 2

Synopsis:

Five Dates is an interactive rom-com about the unpredictable world of digital dating. Vinny, a millennial from London, joins a dating app for the first time while living in lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic. With five potential female matches, Vinny must pluck up courage to video date with wildly different personalities.

This will be an interactive film screening led by Dr David Banner MBE (Commissioner & Executive Producer) from Wales Interactive, John Giwa Amu (Producer) from Good Gate Media and Paul Raschid (Writer and Director). The audience will vote for options which will alter the narrative.

Tuesday 26 September, 6:30pm-8:15pm, Cinema 2.

Synopsis:

Y Sŵn captures one of the most colourful chapters of modern Welsh history told in an imaginative and unique style. Margaret Thatcher swept to power in 1979 with a manifesto that promised to establish a Welsh language television channel. Months later, she broke her promise and sparked protests in Wales. Against a backdrop of civil disobedience, the iconic politician Gwynfor Evans vows to starve to death unless the government changes its mind.
