A celebration of a musical identity forged through the fight for freedom in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
In the 1950s, when the country was a Belgian colony, a generation of Congolese musicians fused traditional African rhythms with African-Cuban music to create the electrifying beat of Congolese Rumba. It is a beat that would carry the country through its journey to independence and ultimately conquer the African continent with its smooth vocals, captivating guitar licks and infectious grooves.
