In a dreary city in Europe, sometime in the mid-20th century, Albert is employed to look after Mia, a girl with teeth of ice who never leaves her apartment. One day, a call comes instructing Albert to prepare the child for the outside, which has devastating consequences for everyone around them. Based on the novella by Brian Catling, with a throbbing score by Agustin Viard and Warren Ellis, this is an austere, enigmatic and absurdist dreamlike drama from Hadzihalilovic, whose previous two films Innocence and Évolution have marked her out as a distinct emerging voice in European cinema.
