Eric Ravilious: Drawn to War (PG)

UK | 2022 | 88’ | PG | Margy Kinmonth

Official British World War II artist Eric Ravilious was a compelling and enigmatic figure. Shot down over Iceland in 1942, he was deeply interested in the elusive concept of patriotism and what it means to be war artist. Sadly, his legacy had, until now, been undervalued, but this film demonstrates the need for his talents to finally be recognised. We have a chance to meet him again through the careful delve into his private correspondence and rare archive film, with contributions from Ai Weiwei, Alan Bennett, Grayson Perry and Robert MacFarlane.
