Everything Everywhere All At Once (15)

USA | 2022 | 139’ | 15 | Dan Kwan, Daniel Scheinert
Michelle Yeoh, Stephanie Hsu, Ke Huy Quan, Jamie Lee Curtis

Middle-aged laundry owner Evelyn is stressed and short-tempered. A woman with the weight of the world on her shoulders: concerned about her daughter, her husband, her father-in-law, and most pressingly a brutal tax audit. In the midst of these problems the universe throws her another: a doppelganger of her husband who informs her that he is from an alternative universe and they’re being threatened by an agent of chaos. Evelyn then proceeds to jump around to experience different versions of herself and how her life would have turned out had she made different decisions.

A film that counts in its influences A Day in the Life by The Beatles, The Matrix and Jackie Chan; this is at heart a tender family drama encased in a kaleidoscopic action comedy, an emotional and metaphysical journey with a terrific cast.
