When the fighting in Aleppo started in 2012, 26-year old student Waad al-Kateab began filming with a camcorder to document what was happening around her. Over five years as the conflict continued, she fell in love, got married and gave birth to Sama. Moving, intimate and epic, this film documents Waad’s struggle with the impossible choice of whether to flee the city or stay to continue the fight for freedom for which she has already sacrificed so much.
