In the 1990s the style and unmistakable sound of Dinosaur Jr laid the foundation for the Grunge culture of Generation X. Telling the story of the eloquent and eccentric guitarist J Mascis, bassist Lou Barlow and drummer Murph, a band who create music in a powerful swirl of distortion and feedback and don’t speak to each other. However, Filmmaker Philipp Reichenheim coaxes the shy icons to speak to him, creating an emotional, tragically funny portrait of a dysfunctional rock family.
