During the economic boom of the 1960s, Europe’s highest building is being built in Italy’s prosperous north. At the other end of the country, young speleologists explore the Bifurto Abyss, Europe’s deepest cave. in the untouched Calabrian hinterland as the depths of it are reached for the first time. As they dive ever deeper, an old shepherd finds his life interweaving with the group’s journey.

Another work of captivating, mystical beauty, a drama-documentary study of organic life and nature from the filmmaker who gave us Le Quattro Volte. Winner of the Special Jury Prize at Venice 2021.

“Masterful work… breathtaking images of rural Italy and a subtle interrogation of the slow creep of change and modernity.” Lovia Gyarkye, Hollywood Reporter
