Agathe Rousselle. Vincent Lindon
Following an accident in her childhood Alexia has an unusual bond with cars, consummated by a strange encounter one night in her job as a dancer. When her murderous tendencies make her a fugitive, she disguises herself as a missing boy and forms a very ambivalent bond with the chief of a firefighting unit. Gender fluidity, familial subversion, techno-sexual delirium and incredibly shocking violence take this film into the far reaches of genre futurism, with Ruben Impens’ cinematography pushing a trash-pulp aesthetic to a hyper-sophisticated new level. Julie Ducournau’s follow up to Raw is electrifying, extreme-dream cinema.
