In the scorching heat of a Spanish summer, Rose and her daughter Sofia travel to the seaside town of Almería to consult Gómez, an enigmatic healer who may hold the key to Rose’s unexplained illness which has left her confined to a wheelchair and reliant on her daughter. In the town, Sofia begins to explore her own needs and is drawn to the magnetic charms of free-spirited traveler Ingrid. Sofia’s increased freedom becomes too much for her controlling mother, and as the sun beats down their relationship simmers and threatens the bond that holds them together. Based on the novel by Deborah Levy this is a steamy tale with fantastic performances.
