For their first gig at Chapter in over 2 years, Newsoundwales wanted to come back with something special to lift our spirits. When they found N’famady Kouyaté they knew he would fit the bill perfectly!
N’famady Kouyaté is a young energetic musician from Guinea (Conakry), who relocated to Cardiff in 2019. A talented multi-instrumentalist who has wowed audiences across the UK and Ireland with his modern interpretations of traditional West African Mandingue songs and rhythms. N’famady’s primary instrument is the balafon – the traditional wooden xylophone, sacred to West African culture and his family heritage of the griot/djeli. For this performance N’famady will be joined by a six-piece band.
James Bower is originally from Bangor Northern Ireland and now lives in Cardiff. He has been gaining a reputation as a live performer including stand out performances at Between the Trees and the Roath Folk Festival. James manages to take the tried and tested formula of singer songwriter and make it sound fresh and engaging.
