Emma Coulthard: Flutes
David Appleton: Piano

Welsh/Irish Flautist Emma Coulthard is joined by Pianist David Appleton (former co director of Piano Circus) to explore the extraordinarily varied and colourful repertoire created by leading Irish Composers.

This programme features the UK premier of John McLachlan’s Isola, an Arts Council Ireland commission, with a haunting reference to Oscar Wilde’s younger sister, who died at the age of 10. Literary references abound, with works influenced by the poetry of Basho, and Ted Hughes, Improvisations and meditations by Anna Murray and Jenn Kirby (world premier) and the epic Boireann, describing the harsh landscape of the Burren in County Clare, by John Buckley.
