Jimmy Erskine is the most feared and famous theatre critic in 1930s London, with his most witty and vicious reviews centred on aspiring actress Nina Land, tearing into her confidence. As a gay man with the laws prohibiting his existence, Jimmy is lives life on the edge, so when his paper’s new owner is less indulgent of his star critic, Jimmy turns to Nina for help. With a sparkling screenplay from Patrick Marber (Notes on a Scandal, Closer, The Day Today) this is a playful thriller with delicious performances.
