Wild Rose (15)

GB | 2019 | 110’ | 15 | Tom Harper | Audio-Described

Rose-Lynn has spent her life loving country music, but growing up on the wrong side of Glasgow with two small children and a criminal record, Nashville feels very far away. When she meets wealthy Susannah, the older woman’s belief in her talent enables the singer to follow her dreams, but her mother is worried that she is going through another cycle of running away from her responsibilities. Although the entire cast is excellent, the film is a showcase of the talents of rising star Jessie Buckley who gives an energetic and powerful performance as the hot-tempered Rose, co-writing and and performing the songs Rose hopes will make her name.
