Films at Chapter 20 October – 2 November

Celebrate the iconic partnership of writer-director-producer duo Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger and their extended creative family The Archers in BFI’s Powell & Pressburger season of films!

Our Cinema Programme Manager Claire Vaughan has curated a season of themes to celebrate the duo including a Halloween special: The Birth of the Slasher, where you can watch the birth of the slasher genre with Peeping Tom, back-to-back with Psycho, Halloween, and Bad Film Club: X Ray.

A treat for the family this spooky season, Cardiff Animation Festival are hosting a free screening and UK premier of the animated Scarygirl! The screening will be followed by a recorded Q&A with the creators and producers.

More for the family during the half-term, we’re screening the delightful comic tale of The Canterville Ghost, written by the Welsh actor Kieron Self! Join us for an in-person Q&A with Kieron on Sunday 29 October at 11am.

Alongside the excitement of Halloween, we’re showcasing bold films with mesmerising imagery and performance this fortnight! Fly to the future, 2065 to be exact, and join Paul Mescal as he’s thrown a startling proposal in Foe.

Immerse yourself in the sauna of shared stories by women who reveal their journeys of self-discovery in Smoke Sauna Sisterhood, and enjoy incredible performances from Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio in 17th century Oklahoma in Killers of the Flower Moon.
