Makiko Kita

Maki is a Japanese artist who works primarily in painting and printing but is also active in photography, ceramics, writing, collecting, mapping and other forms of art.

The theme of freedom is central to Maki’s work. She combines these with dreams and childlike elements to create an otherworldly atmosphere, that’s deeply rooted in reality.

Through her cross-cultural experiences and backgrounds in fine art and sociology, Maki pursues her ongoing interest with life’s in-between spaces, and the traversing and questioning of its boundaries.
