It’s 1988 and Margaret Thatcher’s Conservative government is about to pass Section 28, a law stigmatising the LGBTQ community, forcing P.E. teacher Jean to live a double life. As pressure mounts from all sides, the arrival of a new girl at school is the catalyst for a crisis that will challenge Jean’s most deeply held beliefs. A film set in the past but in dialogue with the present, this is a restrained, powerful drama with anger at its core.
