Reciprocal Gestures: movement in dialogue is a two-day programme of expanded dance and movement, gathering artists and communities to explore the sustaining and transformative potential of movement-based practices.
Artists Iona Hannagan Lewis and Sam Hempenstall invite you to f?ght f?ck, a work-in-progress performance developed for Reciprocal Gestures.
Weaving sound, space and the choreographics of wrestling, the artists respond to and reimagine hidden histories: queer, trans and dyke practices of cruising. In an era of increased policing of gender and sexual expression, the work considers the relationship between desire and freedom, proposing queerness as a practice of world-making and re-making.
This performance is for ages 18+.

About the artists
Sam Hempenstall (they/he) is a transmasc nb jim bro/muscle Daddy. Their practice is a lived ritual of mascing and unmascing. They use drag as a means to push outside of themselves, and to explore desire in a body that is expansive and changeable. They move to remain connected thru the overwhelming waves of body dysmorphia.
Iona Hannagan Lewis (they/she) is a movement and body-based artist based in Cardiff. They develop queer site-based methodologies for movement-making, exploring intimacy, space, and the ethics/aesthetics of participation. They are studying a Masters in Dance: Participation, Communities, and Activism at London Contemporary Dance School.
