We Stand With You – Common/Wealth exhibition
Attributes
1-6pm I Free - no need to book
Common/Wealth brings together artists Ophelia Dos Santos, Kyle Legall, Vanja Garaj, Gavin Porter, and Jon Pountney for a new exhibition, We Stand With You. Each of the works is deeply rooted in Cardiff, highlighting the strength, beauty, and resilience of its communities. From the intimate domestic spaces of Cardiff’s Bangladeshi community to the shared spaces of Grangetown, the exhibition is an personal and moving portrait of the city.
For all five artists, this marks their first time exhibiting at Chapter. We Stand With You features a diverse range of media – including textiles, painting, and photography – and explores Cardiff’s past, present, and future. The works reflect on the city’s historical context and the artists’ personal family stories, while also amplifying urgent calls for justice and change.
The exhibition responds to Grenfell by Steve McQueen and aligns with our wider programme, which explores themes of housing, social justice, class, race, and solidarity. We Stand With You is both a reflection and a celebration – honouring the people of Cardiff and the rich diversity that makes our city special.
+ Exhibition launch on 5 June, 6-8pm

This event is part of Grenfell: We Stand With You, a public programme that accompanies the presentation of the film Grenfell by Steve McQueen.
This national tour of Grenfell is being coordinated by Tate in collaboration with the partner venues and is made possible thanks to support using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England and from Art Fund. Each presentation will be free to visit and will be accompanied by a public engagement programme of talks, workshops and community events supported by the Grenfell Foundation.

Eimear Walshe: [É]IRE
This billboard shows an aerial view of Bray Head, County Wicklow, Ireland. A gorse fire has revealed letters in the landscape spelling EIRE, with the first letter barely visible. EIRE is an anglicised misspelling of Éire, the Irish word for Ireland, and the official Irish language name for the country since 1937.
