1-6pm I Free - no need to book
Common/Wealth brings together artists Ophelia Dos Santos, Kyle Legall, Vanja Garaj, Gavin Porter, and Jon Pountney for a new exhibition, We Stand With You. Each of the works is deeply rooted in Cardiff, highlighting the strength, beauty, and resilience of its communities. From the intimate domestic spaces of Cardiff’s Bangladeshi community to the shared spaces of Grangetown, the exhibition is an personal and moving portrait of the city.
For all five artists, this marks their first time exhibiting at Chapter. We Stand With You features a diverse range of media – including textiles, painting, and photography – and explores Cardiff’s past, present, and future. The works reflect on the city’s historical context and the artists’ personal family stories, while also amplifying urgent calls for justice and change.
The exhibition responds to Grenfell by Steve McQueen and aligns with our wider programme, which explores themes of housing, social justice, class, race, and solidarity. We Stand With You is both a reflection and a celebration – honouring the people of Cardiff and the rich diversity that makes our city special.
+ Exhibition launch on 5 June, 6-8pm
