Entries for the Chapter Queer Short Film Prize 2025 are now open!
This June we celebrate the best LGBTQIA+ films shorts made in Wales. Chapter is a nominating partner of the Iris Prize Best British Short and we’re looking for an LGBTQIA+ short film to nominate from our region.
Shortlisted films will be shown at this special Chapter MovieMaker screening on 4 June and the winning film chosen by Chapter will be part of the Iris Prize Best British programme and shown on Channel 4 and Film4.
Our deadline is Monday 19 May. Please send submissions to [email protected]. They should be either HD/4K quality mov or mp4 files.

Tickets to the screening will be free and we recommend booking in advance. The programme may contain strong material that's only suitable for over 18s.

Category rules
- All entries must be 39 minutes or less, and should be for, about or of interest to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or intersex audiences, and must have been completed within 2 years prior to the submission deadline (between 1 June 2023 and 1 June 2025).
- All entries must be originating from Wales.
- Films of all types are accepted, including animation and documentary.
- We have no restrictions regarding short films that have previously been or are currently available online, or which have been broadcast on television.
Please note
- From the films submitted we will compile a shortlist which will be screened at the Chapter Queer Film Prize screening on 4 June, the final programme will be revealed on Fri 23 May.
- The winner of the Chapter Queer Film Prize will part of the Iris Prize Best British programme. All films accepted into the Iris Prize 2025 Best British Shortlist will benefit from a second window distribution deal with OUTflix / OUT Media Group on OUT Media Group’s worldwide platforms, for six years following the end of the Channel 4 window. Filmmakers will be asked to assign the following rights to Out Media Group: Non-exclusive right for OUT Media Group to exhibit the film worldwide on OMG’s platforms for six years following the end of Channel 4’s licence.
