In this darkly comic triptych fable about spiritual domination; a man tries to wrench back control of his life from a businessman he is indebted to; a policeman is alarmed his wife who was missing presumed dead has returned; and a sex-obsessed couple do the bidding of a pair of cult leaders. After the success of period pieces The Favourite and Poor Things, Lanthimos turns his attention back to a sideways look at contemporary life, where the divine is a corrupting and cruel force.
