In the run up to the exciting crowning of Trinidad's 1986 Calypso Monarch, we follow icons such as Calypso Rose and Lord Kitchener as they discuss their early careers, gain access to a beloved genre of music and get front-row seats at beautiful live performances of songs such as ‘Pan in A Minor’ and ‘Solomon’. Focusing on the history and the intergenerational aspects of Calypsonian culture this is a celebration of the culture of Trinidad and Tobago. Recently restored, this documentary provides a grounding point for communities to express themselves authentically and is a bright and energising look at Calypso’s enduring importance.
